Cape York

Cape York is certainly one of the last wilderness areas northern Australia has to offer. The fishing can be sensational the species and options endless.

AFO can offer you different options to suit your needs, short land based accommodation trips to week or longer mothership excursions.
Much of the Cape is very inaccessible by land so a mothership is a very good option if you wish to fish many of the untouched areas, our mothership is a 54ft Catamaran. With two bathrooms, A/C and all the comforts of home, we tow three 5m skiffs powered by 4stroke outboards and thrusters.
The mothership season runs from late March through to December, travelling along the coast there are endless fishing opportunities. Walking the beaches and flats fly rod in hand casting to sighted fish of numerous species to charging offshore casting to schools of crashing pelagics. Some people wish to spend their whole week exploring the many rivers casting to mangroves and mud drains catching Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon, Fingermark and Mangrove Jack etc
We have two different land based options to cover some unique coastlines, travelling out everyday to fish different areas for different species.
Cape York boasts a huge range of fly rod target species, from the iconic Barramundi to Permit, Blue Bastards, Threadfin Salmon, Golden Trevally, Longtail Tuna, Spanish Mackeral and many more, often the species count is well in excess of 30 species for a trip.
Whatever option suits you best, we’ll do our best to put you in the right spot.
All our guides are very professional and leaders in their field. A maximum of six anglers keeps the service very personalised.
