Micah Adams came north to fish the GLoomis Hinchinbrook Flyfishing Challenge, the tournament is a very well run and social event that takes place every August.

The tournament is structured around targeting a variety of species, the more species you capture the more bonus points you get. It’s a very challenging and fair way to run a tournament.

Again the weather was pretty reasonable for the weekend and plenty of great captures were recorded, all shapes and sizes of boats had entered spreading the fishing locations out depending on what sort of conditions your boat was suitable for as we all know there is no boat suitable for every type of fishing, not even in one area at any given time.

A couple of local Ingham guys, Raymond and Dan won the overall Division, then it is split into Flats and Estuary by the species you have captured. Kim Strathern won the flats section with some big Queenfish and Micah won the Estuary section and biggest Barramundi.

Apart from Micah coming from southern NSW there was also competitors from Sydney and Brisbane, a huge effort for those guys to travel so far and great to see them all catch a few fish.

A standout capture for us for the weekend was this monster Longtail, 119cm and 18.5kg a big Longtail anywhere let alone amongst the mangroves.
Micah also sight fished but jumped off a 90cm Barramundi in 2 feet of water.

It's not the biggest GT  I've caught this year but even little guys are a great sight fishing target on the flats.
