Hervey Bay - Flyfishing through Winter

Despite cooler temperatures there has still been some great flyfishing action in both Hervey and the Inskip area over the past month or so.

Some days it might be alot easier to grab a spin rod and use jigs or soft plastics, but those that have persevered with the flyrod  have reaped good results with species including tunas, mackeral, trevally, tailor ( loads of tailor...), tarpon and others.

I havent previously spent much time here in June / July over the past years and a couple of months ago was a little concerned about what lay ahead, but am now pleased to say that I'm thouroughly enjoying the challenge of fishing ( and guidng) through the cooler months.
I am really looking forward to August - particularly for BIG longtail tuna. One standout year an angler, Dave Henley from NSW, landed 22 longtails in a Day at Inskip Point !!

Im looking forward to the next couple of months - in the meantime here are a few recent piccies -
