The summer season here at Hervey Bay is looking great !! ( has anyone ever met a pessimistic fishing guide ??).

Seriously, there is loads of bait around, very healthy seagrass beds and yabby stocks on the flats and most importantly good numbers of fish around.

It's been said many times before, Hervey Bay can be 'a tough course' but the rewards are there for those who put in the effort, practice their casting prior to a trip, use the right gear, and listen to the advice of their guide.

As the only specialist saltwater fly guides in Hervey Bay and Hinchinbrook, Dave and I will assist with casting tips, tricks and tution and help you get the most from your time on the water ... however there is no substitute for practicing prior to a trip

The number one problem is excessive false casting. More swish = Less Fish. Things can happen pretty quickly on the flats, particularly when fishing larger tides ... Prior to a trip it is well worth spending time either down at the park (casting into the prevailing wind) or with a casting instructor such as Justin Duggan in Sydney (phone 0414 961 221 )

To the fishing ....their has been some great flats fishing of late - here are a few piccies !!

When the wind is blowing we are fortunate to have a number of freshwater fall back options within half an hour of Hervey Bay ... I really enjoy getting out into the freshwater to target our local bass, barramundi and saratoga.
