Hervey Bay in Winter

I must admit that I was a little concerned at the thought of spending the whole year based here in Hervey Bay - Summer has always been great, but winter had a question mark over it.

Well Im thrilled to say that so far the winter fishing has really surpised me ! We've been getting into good numbers of longtail tuna, bonito, tarpon, tailor, flathead, queenfish, trevally , and yesterday came very close to landing a Barramundi !

AFO regular Cavan McCann from Hong Kong has been here for the last few days , yesterday I took him to a rarely fished section of the Great Sandy Straits ( waters that are considered difficult to get to but the Hewes Redfisher has changed all that ) where Cavan jumped of a nice 'legal' sized barra..We'll certainly be back there throughout the yeara and particularly this coming summer !

Here are a few of the pics - more to follow soon
