The weather has sure been strange this season at Hinchinbrook, untimely rain, unusual winds and all leading to reduced options. But we have had opportunities at great fish, some we captured some will stay only in our memories.

Barramundi to the magic metre, the biggest Queenfish I’ve ever seen and it bit through 20lb Fluorocarbon. Schools of Permit, hooked and lost, schools of Golden Trevally, not all lost.

Monster Giant Trevally cruising in skinny water, making holes where baitfish used to be. Giant Herring and Threadfin Salmon patrolling the shallow banks.

Mangrove Jacks sitting beside fallen timber just waiting for a chance to steal your fly.

Queensland Grouper and Dugong on the flats, so weather aside it’s been an interesting time.

Tuna are still showing up out wide, Nat found them, he has been out exploring new flats out wider on the Islands, some great looking flats and water colour to suit.

A few trips up into the freshwater were also interesting and a fun option on an otherwise washed out day.

Great sharing a boat with Neil Shepherd again almost a week of sight casting only ( a windy week at that) and good to see Andy Beer here for his 1st Hinchinbrook experience. I’m sure we can organise better weather for Hena and Chris when they next leave Canberra also.

More of 2008 to come and plenty of opportunity to book yourself a spot in the 2009 season. There are plenty of good dates and trips available for next year but don’t leave it until the last minute…
